Performer Description (For use on website)
Callanish takes its name from a group of stones in Scotland called "the Stonehenge of the North". The band's roots extend back to 2002, when James Douglas put together the group from the ashes of another Celtic group called Kings Irish. The group has weathered several changes of personnel and style since then as well as the death of James in 2013. The current Callanish lineup dates from early 2016 and consists of John Adams (violin), Soren Green (acoustic guitar), Ben Spigle (flutes and whistles) and Cindy Spigle (percussion). The group now plays primarily instrumental Celtic songs but throws in other acoustic numbers which strike their fancy as well as a couple of originals.
